‘Eurasian Wren’ is the newest mind-bending release from London-based, Taiwan-born artist An-Ting. The piece is composed solely of birdsong, with binaural recordings being edited and manipulated in Ableton, and turned into the building blocks of this dark piece of experimental electronic music. Despite the blissful tweeting of birds sitting at its core, her use of drones, pitch-bending and metallic beats create a seriously menacing undercurrent that runs throughout the track. She says: “There is a light and darkness in nature that civilisation has made us numb to and that we want to explore.” An-Ting’s upcoming album, Lost Communications, is due to be released on October 25th, 2024. -Dan Peeke
